not necessarily. Now i want to make it clear that i like the cardinals and i wanted them to win the super bow and thought they should have won. furthermore i thought that santonio holmes was out of bounds. however im not gonna be subjective because i rather the right call be made than wanting my team to win. therefore after seeing these pictures it is clear that holmes was inbounds, i was wrong, and the steelers earned that win. Santonio Holmes made a great catch.

In this situation Jon photo evidence is accurate proof because in picture 2 on this page it is clear that Santonio Holmes has the ball, it's a catch, and both feet are in bounds. He made a great play. I'm still mad they lost but the better team won that day.

The best TD celebration ever was TO scoring the winning TD in Baltimore then mocking Ray Ray's gay little dance. The icing on the cake was hearing Ray Ray whine like a b!tch about it afterwards :)

That was not the best TD celebration ever. Even if the only other TD celebration ever was spiking the ball, it still wouldn't be the best TD celebration ever. What does a bunch of tall, underfed ballhogs playing a sport with barely any contact have to do with football? It was a stupid celebration.

I'm a Steelers fan, so you know I'm not relishing it when I say this, but Wes Welker's snow angel was the best TD celebration ever, and there isn't even a close second.

ChargerFan - Because of the call on the field, the onus is not on anyone to prove that he had possession. The onus is on the disprovers, those that want to show that he didn't. And thus far, no clear evidence has been presented to that effect.

What you don't show is whether he had posession of the ball at the time the two feet were touching. I don't think you can produce that because he didn't. However, we can all take apart hundreds of plays throughout the year. It's why we have refs. We leave it to them to make the calls that the "naked eye" would see. As a Charger fan, I must hand it to the Steelers. Roth is going straight to the Hall of Fame in 10 years.

To be fair to the Cardinals, their players and coaches aren't the ones who went home to whine and make excuses. Guys like Todd Haley, Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald aren't losers and deserve respect.

Their Johnnie-come-lately bandwagon fans, on the other hand...fire away.

What's even more maddening is that if you view the comments in the PFT "pieces" you'll see a ton of people saying they "never saw any image showing two feet down", and yet there are links images showing exactly that posted all throughout the comments section and people simply ignore them and continue with their jealous bitter BS.

Bad calls and non-calls went both ways. And most of the late game penalties (when it really counts) went against the Steelers. I don't think Ben's knee ever touched the turf on the overturned TD. You could see his leg's freakin' shadow under it the entire time.

Champions adapt and overcome (us), losers go home and whine and make excuses (them). Hooray for us. LOL at them.

I did look at the rules again later, I think we actually would have gotten possession at the spot of the foul but I am glad to know it wasn't a penalty after all.

Actually, the TD would not have counted. The penalties would have offset, and the play would have been done over, however, the interception would have still counted. It is almost like a turnover begins a new play. So we would have gotten the ball back where Harrison had intercepted it, and just had to do a QB sneak to get out of the endzone and end the half. So the block in the back would have been huge if called, however, Hightower (I believe that's who it was) had changed his angle of pursuit. According to the NFL rules, you cannot have a block in the back as a penalty if the block in the back would have been a legal block if not for a shift in the potential tacklers direction.
I have just quit looking at other online sites, it's pathetic. NFL Live and Reilly among others at ESPN that aren't just there to get hatred ratings (Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith) were very fair in their assessments and said the best team won. Never thought I would see the day that ESPN would be the calming influence about the game. All they did was ask fair questions (the Warner play at the end and whether it should have been reviewed, the bad Roethlisberger roughing, etc.). Overall, about 10,000x's better than XL, which is what I expected from Wisenhunt, Warner, Fitz, et. al. who are quality people as opposed to Holmgren, Hasselbeck and Alexander who carry themselves in the way their fans reacted.

I have heard alot of people crying in the media that Woodley blocked someone in the back during the Harrison runback. In the replay it looks like he might have BUT the Cards were called for facemasking on that play, so wouldn't these penalties offset and leave the touchdown still counting? No one in the media has mentioned this but they are idiots. I don't know the rules that well so I thought I would run it by everyone.

Is the first photo (the one from ProFootball Talk) likely photoshopped? It is the only one that shows Holmes' cleats as having a white midsole, not the black/gray that shows up in every other photo both on this page and around the interwebs. Just thought that it was interesting.

Second that. The Steelers are not the "Yankees of the NFL". The Steelers do not sign every high priced free agent that they can find.

Whining about refs is "loser's limp".

Please do not continue this trend of calling the Steelers the "Yankees of the NFL." The Chief just did 3 backflips in his mausoleum.

It's a question of proportionality. It's not an either/or (i.e., not every complaint/criticism about officiating makes someone a whiner).

First, fans should always recognize that multiple factors/plays explain a win or loss, and they should always give priority to what their team could control (plays they did or did not make) over officiating concerns. It's the difference between officiating being ten minutes of an hour-long discussion and it being 50 minutes.

Second, it matters what the alleged officiating blunder was. An obvious blown call with major implications is a more legitimate subject of post-game complaint than a close call that is either (a) clearly correct upon close review or (b) inconclusive. And it becomes even more ridiculous to worry about a close call that would have had minimal impact on the game.

I believe Steelers fans were generally pretty good about qualifying their complaints about what they considered an obvious non-call in the Jax game (among other obvious non-holding-calls in other games) with the observation that it was not the most important factor in the game and that they were more upset about other things. Seahawks fans, and now some Cardinals (or, considering the lack thereof, at least anti-Steelers) fans fail on both measures of proportionality: their focus is almost exclusively on the officiating and the calls they are upset about (except for a couple of minor ones) were not obviously wrong -- even worse, most were clearly correct.

p.s. Isn't there a bit of turf on the tip of the right cleat in the first photo above? If so, doesn't that prove that the right toe had just been touching the ground? The tip of the right cleat is clearly not visible in the last photo (because it is striking the turf), so the top photo was clearly taken a split second after the toe came up.

I think the reason other teams' fans get more bent out of shape is because they feel like it is the only chance their team will have at glory for the next decade or so. For most teams this is the case. Look at Seattle, there is no way they're getting back to the SB anytime soon. Their fans realize this and it makes the loss hurt even more. Compared to us last year after JAX, as Steeler fans, we knew we'd have another opportunity very soon, in this case the very next year. We have also become the Yankees of the NFL so that generates a lot of jealousy and hate to fuel the fire.

This is the one 'controversial' play that shouldn't be argued about. It was clear he got two feet down.

But I must say that in the reverse scenario, I think Steeler fans would be upset with the outcome of the game. Just my opinion.

Also, a picture can't be considered absolute proof that someone didn't get two feet down! The feet could have been down before or after a picture was taken. Only video can prove a negative like that.

I recall plenty of complaining after the Jax game, but more of it was about that Arians Abortion QB Sweep than the hold. So yeah, the Steelers fans complained, loudly and a lot, but in the end, most of them blamed the loss on Arians, part of the team.

Blaming the refs is the lowest form of complaining.

that and there's complainers, and then there's complainers that won't let it go (Seahawks fans). How about Cardinals fans who complain that Larry Fitzgerald ran about half the field out of bounds to catch Deebo at the end of his interception run?

If we win the SB again in the next few years I think I will have to avoid the internet sports pages (especially blogs like pft) for at least a month. I am so tired of everyone trying to say the refs gave it to the Steelers or that the Cards should have won cause they had more yards or that Warner is great despite 2 turnovers and putting up 16 (net) points.

And to Ryan, yes,Steelers fans did complain last year but we didn't explode the internet with article after article about the Jags game and the media sure didn't say anything.

"We got screwed last year by a holding call against Jacksonville that cost us the game but we didn’t complain and cry for 2 weeks did we?"

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic in this line or not, but yes, there was a large population of fans complaining for a number of weeks about the holding that wasn't called on Garrard's run.

All fanbases have a subsection of fans who whine. You can't avoid it. Some fanbases have a bigger group than others, but no fanbases are completely devoid of whiners.
