Anti-Caps Pics

By Dagger | May 1, 2009

This is a tradition going on 2 years now.  The Pens face a new playoff opponent and we put up pics of their team.  It worked against Ottawa, New York, Philly (twice), and not so much against Detroit.  Washington is up next so they get the same treatment.  Photoshops are pulled from around the net.

Some good memories:

yes that was actually an away game for the Penguins ^^ to take over the other teams arena during the regular season is one thing….but to do it in the playoffs is unreal. The Caps have taken EXTREME MEASURES to make sure Pens fans don’t take over the Verizon Center this year.

game coulda gone either way. Pens dominated the game for large portions of the game but weren’t able to cash in. A great Varlamov save, a 5-on-3 goal, and a bad Penguin PP summed up the game.

Pens had a 7 day layoff and it showed. They were just a tad off all game. All those fumbles, bobbles, and misplays on those 2-on-1’s and 3-on-2’s were due to rust I believe.

This is how the series is going to go…a PP here, a bounce there, a timely save. Nobody is blowing anybody out.

And itsn’t this part of the plan anyways? Give the Caps a 1, 2, or even 3 game lead and then crush their souls with an epic comeback? haha. At least that’s the way we used to do it in the 90s.

Neither team is strong enough to beat Boston anyways. The winner of WAS PITT will survive for an additional 4,5 or 6 games until their season is ended by the Bruins–so don’t put too much emotional stock into it guys.

Dagger, Ovi did hit the goal post twice, if those went in, and the pens never scored, it would have looked like a blow out, though it definitely wasn’t out there on the ice. Not trying to stir shh, or say the pens were “lucky” to be eve in it. Just agreeing, in part, with what you were saying about the games coming down to a bounce of the puck, so to speak.

Big M could be right, and this series could be analogous to the Celtics-Bulls series, two teams that are fairly evenly matched, battling out each and every game, to face a team that is better than either on paper, in the next round.
