not sure Ray Lewis deserves to be ranked quite so high…
May 27th, 2009 at 10:37 pm
Ray Lewis consistently wins the “most overrated player” award at Football Outsiders, and I certainly agree.
An interesting RB ranking. Didn’t think LT would fall that far, or that Turner would make it that high.
May 28th, 2009 at 7:35 am
There doesn’t seem to be much consistency in the rankings. Some players are on the list based on talent, and some are there based on hype, and some seem to be a combination.
May 28th, 2009 at 9:08 am
I think Ray Lewis and Reggie Wayne are a little overrated. Reggie Wayne isn’t that fast or that physical, Manning props his numbers up alot.
I seriously doubt Ray Lewis plays a full season this year.
No James Harrison among the top defenders? What do the guy need to do? Oh thats right, get drafted higher out of college in order to get media attention.
May 28th, 2009 at 9:54 am
“Reggie Wayne isn’t that fast or that physical”
Neither was Jerry Rice, but he’s proof positive that a WR doesn’t have to be big, fast or strong in order to be great.
May 28th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Ray Lewis probably gets too much credit for the Ravens D than he should at this point. James Harrison is the better player right now.
May 28th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Brian urlacher and lance briggs should be on the list too
May 28th, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Yeah Ray Lewis isn’t what makes the Ravens D so great, its Haloti Gnata. That guys is a monster he deserves so much more credit and attention than he will ever get.
May 28th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Adrian Wilson should be on the list instead of ray lewis
May 28th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
Why is Frank Gore rated so well. He’s oly had 1 good year back in 06? You would think that some of these obvious facts would be easy to point out
Where is Justin Tuck? Where is Eli? Though struggled at the end of last year he still played better than Romo. Romo was giving picks away like charity. Where is Matt Forte, Steve Slaton, Chris Johnson, and Derrick Ward? Many people might not want to hear this but Brady is rated too high to have not played. Steve Smith is too high and Brandon Marshall and Calvin Johnson are grossly underrated.
May 29th, 2009 at 10:30 am
Ray Lewis’ rating is skewed by the newest catergory on the Madden attributes list, MURDER.
May 29th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
If you look at the stats, Frank Gore had an excellent year despite having missed several games due to injuries. Steve Slaton was a late season bloomer and Derrick Ward isn’t even close to being being in the top 10. Brady might be rated high but he’s still top 10. Steve Smith has proven himself as a high rating player and Brandom Marshall shouldn’t even be in the top 10. Calvin Johnson is fine where he is but I would’ve liked to see Gregg Jennings deserves a spot over Marshall IMO.
May 29th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Where is matt forte he is the number 2 overall fantasy football player this year in fantasy football. you would think he would be in the top ten then in players overall for his recievr abilities alone.
May 29th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Phillip Rivers proved last year to be a better QB than those listed with the exception of Drew Brees. Tom Brady didn’t even play last year and the dillweeds at EA think his rating should be higher. Peyton Manning should not be rated that high either. San Diego owns him and his noodle arm.
May 30th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Ok number 1 Ray Lewis is fine where he is. number as said above Calvin Johnson is indeed vastly underated. Along with Phillip Rivers and Jay Cutler. Finally Drew Brees should be ranked the best quarterback in football. BTW Reggie Wayne is one of the few they got right.
May 31st, 2009 at 8:02 am
you guys are all retarted, how can anyone get this much of a hard on for a video game, wow…. just wow
May 31st, 2009 at 5:56 pm
lol, its like cocaine! wait until we can make some good money out of playing it online matt. (not that u already cant but.., it will get very popular in the near future as the game and networks advance in technology)
May 31st, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Manning is the greatest QB ever. peace
May 31st, 2009 at 7:05 pm
And eli manning, clinton portis, thomas jones, tony gonzalez, kellen winslow, calvin johnson, and ray lewis have either dropped off the map or havent done shit.
May 31st, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Also with the emergence of Cassel, a guy who hadnt started since high school, i think we can all agree that the patriots’ 3 super bowls were more belichick than brady. i hate that fag.
June 1st, 2009 at 10:27 am
As a long time Madden player. I have seen that contract affect how a player is rated. Unless a player fails to produce over a long period (Alex Smith) he gets the benefit of the doubt. This is why Manning is a 99 to Brady at 98 although Brady’s contract is much less. Yes, Ray Lewis is overrated.
June 1st, 2009 at 5:03 pm
cause manning IS the greatest qb of all time. and 98 is too high for brady.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Frank gore isn’t over rated if anything he’s under rated. Despite missing a couple of games he had just as good of a year as L.T and steven jackson but ppl point him out as being over rated. Why not LT or Jackson? So its obvious that u have something against the niners. A.P sould be a 99 and so should Andre Johnson. Madden needs to get there ratings fixed.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:10 pm
And why the f u c k is Brady a 98. Madden 2010 ratings is based on ur 08-09 performance. He didn’t play so he shouldn’t get a 98 rating. Who cares what he did the year b4. A lot of players had a great year then a bad 1 the next.
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:48 am
Manning is fucking awesome, year in and year out his team is always among the best in the league record wise. the colts are constantly a powerhouse with one of the weakest defences and no running game at all brady is overrated
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:49 am
Moss should be tied in rating with johnson and fitz
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:49 am
and were is Urlacher on this list
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:51 pm
not bad. I got one thing to say! I read that the ratings would be better and that there would be less great players. this might be the most 95-99 I’ve seen! hanysworth one great season, and all 10 of the defensive guys are a 97 or better. the underrated players are finally getting credit. Andre Johnson isn’t a 98 maybe 94-95. a few are to high
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:13 pm
1st off, TOM BRADY is NOT overrated, you idiots! do you guys even watch football or just live in your fantasy video game worlds? He missed a whole year bc of injury that doesn’t mean hes lost his abilities, unless the injury trully affects him this season but thats yet to be seen. On the flip side tony gonzalez and ray lewis are way over rated, and its a disgrace that james harrison is not in the top 10. As well as Lance Briggs for that matter.
June 2nd, 2009 at 11:44 pm
first off drew brees threw for 5000 plus yards and is still rated lower than someone who only threw for the first few minutes of the first quarter!!!!!!and if i was james harrison i would sue madden for saying ray lewis is better than him.o one more thing brian westbrook should be rated higher than michael turner just my own personal opinion
June 3rd, 2009 at 12:23 am
brad youre stupid, brady shouldnt b a 98 after the year that cassel had. he couldnt even start 4 USC but he can win 11 games n an nfl season and everybody still thinks that brady is the best QB n the game. NO WAY!!! TOP 5 MAYBE
June 4th, 2009 at 12:23 am
Tony Gonzalez had the best year of all the tight ends in the league and u say hes overrated… Im a Jets fan but i can agree with Bradys rating cause hes got the superbowl rings to justify it… Calvin Johnson should be the 3rd highest receiver behing Fitzgerald then Andre Johnson… Calvin had an incredible year on and 0-16 team… that speaks volumes about his ability… hes a beast… Adrian Peterson was the best back in football ball and shoulda been number one in last years madden… Actually hes the best FOOTBALL PLAYER in the NFL(HANDS DOWN) hes another beast… Saying Andre Johnson is overrated is crazy too… dude gets 100 yards a game and a td almost everygame… Larry Fitz, Andre Johnson and Megatron Calvin Johnson are all unstoppable… other than that the ratings are ok… wait till the season starts for the updates to get the official shit… listening to some of you makes me wonder if you even watch football and know the game or just think you know shit cause you play fantasy or madden online… Frank Gore is overrated and has had only 1 good season since being in the league… maybe if he didnt hurt his vagina every year and could stay on the feild he would be good… thanks to him being hurt all the time at miami clinton portis and willis mcgahee became studs although mcgahee is pretty much done being an elite back… Peyton Manning is good where hes at cause he puts up the numbers year in year out… Consitency is what makes players great… not one good year… if that were the case then dudes like dj hackett and patrick crayton wouldve been top ten wide receivers in last years madden… even though they werent they were still overrated… just cause a guys on your favorite team doesnt make him good… know your football before you start bitching about ratings and dont make any sense…
June 4th, 2009 at 12:34 am
i also wanted to add that Matt Cassell had a good year but his stats were padded by yards after catch… hes the product of a sytem… he doesnt throw deep like Brady and is no where near or will he ever be the quarterback brady is… and i dont even like tom brady… if he can do it in Kansas City then you can give him props…(he wont though) I forgot to say that Tony Gonzalez had over 1000 yards which is nast for a tight end… arguably the best tight end to ever play so calling him overrated is retarded… Ray lewis may have lost some skill but hes the leader of his d and still gets the job done and will def be a hall of famer… Haynesworth was a monster for the past 3 years and deserves his rating as the best nose tackle in the game with Kris Jenkins a close second… Lastly i would like to make a prediction that the jets will have the best defense in the NFL this year… 1
June 4th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
Wow, Chad Pennington below an 87? What a joke, I can see his arm issues, but he was practically the 2nd best QB in the league last year with NO WR. Ronnie Brown isnt on the list? I am definitely a homer, but there’s no way those two are not top ten.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Adrian Peterson a 99? No he’s good but not that good. Have you forgot what mad L.T. when he was healthy a 99. It wasn’t the touchdown runs; that’s the basic job of a running back. He did everything. He threw for touchdowns, ran for touchdowns, ran block, line up as a wide reciever, etc. He did it all. Peterson hasn’t made it to that point in his early yet explosive career to do all those things yet at least no how L.T. did. Yes! L.T. is the standard still even with a knee, toe, and pull groin muscle he still had 1200 yards. What did Julius Peppers do so great? Tuck ate his lunch last year. Where is James Harrison? I know he’s a 1 year wonder but the boy’s tough. Calvin Johnson is grossly underrated. It’s sickening. In my humble and un-heard opinion, Romo was a top 10 QB last year? How? Poor Rivers he just continue to get the shaft.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
qb rating are the worst of all….where the hell is matt ryan and joe flacco . i bet both of them had a great year than romo. the guy (brady) who never played get a 98, no one is sure if he is gonna have a great year. and romo missed many of the games with his injured pinky…this is just B.S. c’mon…ray lewis a 99?….he is getting old….
June 4th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the game right now… not only that hes the best football player period… the only two people to have more yards then him in their first two seasons were eric dickerson and the legendary jim brown… thats pretty illustrious company… granted his pass blocking needs work and hes an average receiver at this point in his career but i think this year you will see him be on the field more in those situations and see tremendous improvements in those areas and that should justify his 99 rating… i know he fumbles alot but i think that has more to do with his viscious runnings style… hes is a beast and a physical specimen… he also said that he vowed to come back bigger and stronger this season which is a scary thought… hes got the perfect compliment of speed and power and the sky is the limit as far as his career goes… hes the best in the game right now and hasn’t even scratched the surface of how great he can be… he will rush for 2000 yards this year and 20 td’s… the crazy part about it is that he puts up great numbers and hes constantly facing 8 in the box due to the quarterback problems and inconsistent reciever play… now that i think about it he shouldnt be a 99, he should be 100 rating… Mark my words he will win the MVP this year… 1
June 4th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
as far as ronny brown goes… take away that game where he rushed for 4 tds and however many yards out of the wildcat and his numbers were very average… Ricky Williams is the better back there right now but Ronny Brown is the future of the team… im not impressed with him though… hes a solid running back but nothing special… his stats were inflated because of trickery and the wildcat… ive always loved pennington and wish the jets kept him and gave him a shot with the o line they had last year… hes just a solid qb though but a great team player and leader… he should be ranked like 85 or 86 and that should be good for him…
June 4th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
i agree matt ryan should have a good rating but joe flacco had shitty numbers… 13 tds 11 picks and not even 3000 yards passing… he was a game manager not an elite quarterback so y should he be up there in the ratings… the ravens ran the ball 70 percent of the time most in the nfl and flacco was exposed in the afc championship game against Pitt… granted he has potential and played well for a rookie standards but he has a long way to go… he only got to start last year cause boller and smith were injured… going into the season he was 3rd string but he did a good job considering his in experience… to say he should be in the top ten is the most retarded thing ive ever heard… Matt Ryan is a million times better than him and he shouldnt even be top ten… (YET) Flacco will be a solid starter for years but has a long way to go to be a top ten qb… Hell have a Kerry Collins type career… Ryan will be a stud starting this year and next year may crack the top ten… hes the next Brady/Manning type qb… Flacco will never be in that company… im not tryin to be a dick but it bothers me when i read these complaints that make no sense at all… as far as Ray Lewis he is getting old but hes a legend and his production hasnt fallen enough for his rating to drop… hes still a dominate player and the leader of one of the most ferocious defenses in the league and not only that hes actually murdered someone… Best middle linebacker in the nfl is Patrick Willis… im writing here giving credit where credit is due… im a jets fan and im not crying about Darelle Revis, Kerry Rhodes, Kris Jenkins, or David Harris not being top ten even though realistically they all could be… Kris Jenkins is the second best d tackle behind Haynesworth, Revis is arguably the second best corner in the game behind Asumogah, and Kerry Rhodes will put Ed Reed type numbers up under Rex Ryan with more tackles… David Harris is the next Ray Lewis… if your gonna come on here and cry about the ratings at least make a valid point and reason to justify your argument… just cause you like a player doesnt make him and elite player… watch football, learn the game and get a clue please…
June 5th, 2009 at 2:47 am
Philip Rivers 88? he had the best QB rating last year!!! 105.5 rating, 4009 yards through the air, and 34 TDs! He deserves a 90 rating at the very least. And should without question be better than roethlisberger and McNabb… I’m just sayin’ based on numbers he was the most effective QB last year… aside from Manning/Brady or Warner/Brees, he is without doubt the best. maybe even better than warner/brees, cause those are pass happy teams…
June 6th, 2009 at 12:16 am
If Brady is judged off his 2008 season, he would be an overall 3 (a bit low). Please order the NFL package and watch the game before talking about ratings. The Patriots altered their play calling (obviously) after Brady went down. They had Cassel thriving on the short, intermediate passes. The Patriots deep threat Randy Moss had 30 less catches, 500 fewer yards, and 12 less TD’s from the prior year. The Patriots also scored nearly 200 less points. As for Calvin Johnson being underrated, I also think he is extremely talented, but let’s not call him unstoppable. Though he had a HORRIBLE supporting cast, no unstoppable player goes 0-16, ask Barry Sanders who had an entire defense after him, not just a corner and a safety. I 100% agree with Spencer about Rivers. Rivers had to deal with a disaster of a defense and injuries filled seasons from both Gates and LT, yet had a great season. RAP says Brady deserves a 98 because of the super bowl rings and then goes on to say Calvin Johnson is unstoppable even on an 0-16 team. So, according to you, wouldn’t that mean Calvin deserves about a 10? Somebody has to collect the stats, and it happened to be him (the only receiver worth looking at on the Lions). Their second leading receiver wasn’t even a receiver, it was Kevin Smith. That same Lions squad went 8-8 the prior year with Shaun McDonald the go-to receiver and Calvin the FOURTH option. RAP also puts Jets defenders in the company of Ray Lewis, Hanyesworth, ASOMUGHA, and Ed Reed. Don’t you think is you had all of those players the Jets would have finished with a pass defense better than SIXTEENTH and run defense NINTH? The Jets allowed the 18th most points in 2008. I thought you said just because a player is on your favorite team, that doesnt make him good? Also, if you know football like you claim, you’d know that the Vikings have implemented the wildcat offense along with at least 30 new plays for their first round draft pick PERCY HARVIN. Those are touches coming away from AP. Also, AP plans on putting on 35 pounds by next year. Any RB that puts on that kind of weight loses speed and is proned to injury (which he already is). AP could never be a 100 rating at the rate he gives the ball away. You have less football knowledge than anyone else here, and that’s saying something.
June 6th, 2009 at 3:55 am
Andre Johnson was the best reciever in the regular season, he didnt have a chance to step up in the playoffs like Fitz. Drew Brees is the best QB in the league right now. Peyton is a great QB but also overrated by most, all his career he has had a great pass protecting offensive line and one of the best recieving corps with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. This year he doesnt have all of recievers and is gonna have to do something
June 6th, 2009 at 9:12 am
Actually people have every short memeories. Peyton has never had an excellent recieving core. You have to stop listening to the hype. Reggie Wayne just became an elite reciever (possession) about 2 years ago. He was just a second option wide reciever for many years. He only had big games when the Colts played the Broncos. He didn’t become a true #1 until Harrsion got that knee injury. And when people say Brady didn’t have reciever that’s another lie, but no one really wants to address it. When Troy Brown and Deion Branch was his recievers they were a top 5 duo in the league. Branch even won MVP in the Superbowl they played the Panthers in. Brady has the same thing now. Wes Welker plays the role of Troy Brown and Moss plays the role of Branch. Branch is a wayyyyyy overall better reciever than Moss <— who is extremely overrated. He plays when he wants too and is only good for the deep ball, and people forget that Moss has only had 2 good seasons. His 1st year and last year. Calvin Johnson is killing it with much less. Peyton never had a defense. The Colts was never known for defense even the year they won the Superbowl they had the worse run defense by far in the league in that sloppy rain-soaked Superbowl, he put his team on his back and won that Superbowl. Brady never had to do that.
June 6th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Big Ben is the one who never had a line. Why do you think he has such poor number? That should be a given; yet people kill me when they talk about his numbers. If Big Ben never made plays with his legs the Steelers wouldn’t win half of their game even if they had a great defense or not. Romo has a great line and is sooooooooo inconsistenct. He’s nothing but an Eli that can run. I personally think Eli is better than Romo, but Rivers is better than both. At least, Eli can win and don’t make no excuses for Romo and the so-called most talented team in the league. He hasn’t proved to win yet.
June 6th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Where is chad pennington at? he was second in mvp votes and had top five passer rating? you video game creatures are loosers! oh ya last time i checked joey porter led the afc in sacks? where is he? oh ya i remember ronnie brown had five tds in one game something no other running back has ever done yet he isnt on your list? you need to redo your whole game dolphins went 11 and 5 and won the afc east yet i have the feeling your gonna rank them like an 78 your idiots … redo the rankings now>>>
June 7th, 2009 at 6:13 am
Actually I have nothing against the 49ers. I think it’s time to stop judging players on past glory. Take about players and games missed. Brandon Jacobs missed 4 game last year and still had over 1100 yards. I like Frank Gore, but obviously I’m telling the truth If you get offended and think that I have something against the 49ers. It’s just a game. I’ve never even bought a Madden game I play it though, but too many players are having one year and become almost perfect (99) and too many players are getting rated well (90-95) for nothing it seems.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:17 am
Like I said before, Madden 09 was made for 2 teams. The Cowboys and the Pats. If you never watch football in 08 you would not have even notice that the Giants were the Superbowl champs, and it wasn’t a fluke I never a team to just lay back and let a team beat them. The Giants were supposed to be rated better than that. Overall and individually, but when it comes to this game the Steelers will be rated great and they deserve it. I just think Madden needs to be consistent. The Giants didn’t even have the best line like they were supposed to. Minnesota had that, but the Giants won a Superbowl off of theirs. You see what I’m saying. Stever Slaton was the best back in the league all last year on 3rd downs. That should show in the game. These people need to follow the stats and go from there.
June 7th, 2009 at 6:28 am
Honestly speaking, the Superbowl champs are supposed to be the top team reagrdless.
June 7th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
actually jeff when i compared the jets players i was being sarcastic… i used them as an example because those are players i like and i dont expect them to be in the top ten because i like them… but i will tell you this that you will see an emergence of jets players this year because of Rex Ryan… what i said is David Harris whos only been in the league a few years will be the next Ray Lewis type middle linebacker and that Kerry Rhodes who has been a stud will be even better with the new defense and put up Ed Reed type numbers with more tackles… Kris Jenkins is was a 96 in last years game and had a better year this past season than the season before… i said nothing about ratings i just said even though i like the jets i dont expect them to be rated 99s… i then predicted how good they would be this year… so before you chime in read the writing and know what your talkin about… i also already stated the facts on how matt cassells stats were padded because of short passes and yards after catch and that he will never be a tom brady… Calvin Johnson is unstoppable because his team sucked cock but he put up sick numbers considering facing constant double teams so yeah he is underrated… you cant base bradys stats on last year because he didnt play so look to the year before and throughout his career and thats all you need to know… i dont even like him but i understand his rating is gonna drop because he got injured… Certain guys like brady and peyton manning, ray lewis and tony gonzalez just to name a few will always have high ratings because theyve consistantly put up sick numbers for years… when the younger guys put together ten straight seasons of great play then they will have consistant ratings… you dont judge a guy like tom brady the same way you do a matt cassell… the highest rated players have earned it for doin it for years, with the exception of a few who blew on to the scene recently… your whole shit you said is retarded cause you took my shit out of context casue you cant read and then tried to state facts previously stated by me to make yourself sound smart… i know football and love the game and watch everygame and have been my whole life so dont try to school me cause you aint even on my level of knowledge… your a retard who cant read… now peace out you fuckin geek
June 7th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Adrian Peterson is the best football player in the NFL… only JIM BROWN and ERIC DICKERSON had more yards in there first 2 years… theres the stats for ya… i said i know he needs work in pass catching, protection and with fumbling but this is a guy going into his third season that dominated games facing 8 in the box similar to the way you stated barry sanders had to… oh and by the way the Barry Sanders lions were much better collectivley than last years lions and dont forget Kitna was out almost the whole year and they used a total of four quarterbacks last year thats why MEGATRON CALVIN JOHNSON is unstoppable… the only problem is there defense couldnt stop anyone… and to add your stats about last years jets defense all i did what talk about a couple good players on their defense not the defense as a whole you fuckin dummy… you dont need to tell me where they finished as far as points and pass defense i think i know my own teams stats… i just said what they do have goin for em and the secondary has been addressed this offseason with Lito Sheppard, Jim Leanord, and a great coverage linebacker in Bart Scott… The jets had the best offseason of anyone and that defense will be the best this year comin up or at least top five… they have better players and an aggresive coach in Rex Ryan whos not gonna sit back in coverage everytime they get a lead… the heat will stay on this year… and if they work something out to get Darnell Dockett from Arizona then its a rap for everyone… i said nothing about last years defense just talked about the talented players they have and the holes that were there from last year have been filled this offseason so what out cause the J- E- T- S- jet, jets, jets are comin… just so we are clear this was a message to Jeff the loser who thinks that the only one who has the nfl package and that qualifys him as a football expert… what a fuckin geek
June 8th, 2009 at 12:41 am
You successfully wrote an entire essay of nonsense. You didn’t prove anything i said wrong. Congratulations. I essentially quoted you in my writing, so how could I take it out of context. It’s in its original context my friend. You went on a childish rampage after realizing you were wrong. You wanna talk about not being able to read? Did i ever once claim to be the only one to have the NFL package? Did i say that qualifies someone as an expert? A few more questions… So if the Jet players had to have Rex Ryan in order to emerge, isnt that success due to Rex Ryan? If Calvin Johnson is unstoppable (megatron?), how did the 49ers hold him to 40 yards? How did the Bears hold him to 2 catches for 16 yards? The Lions were playing from behind all season (meaning a pass heavy offense) and he still didnt put up numbers. Did you read my stats about his production in 2007? Nobody claimed AP, Calvin, or especially Tom werent very good players, im arguing the level you put them on. You obviously aren’t used to arguing about football because you offer no insight, no rebuttals, and you get all cranky. I didnt disagree with you on the Cassel Brady deal, so maybe you should re-read. At no point did i use anything you said to try and “make” myself sounds smart. Not very well played on your part. You’re right, I “ain’t” on your low level of knowledge. You ramble on in a second post with stats about AP’s production, which i never questioned. If you read correctly, i questioned how well he takes care of the ball and his ability to stay healthy. Not very well played, once again. Wow, Barry Sanders Lions were collectively better than the 0-16 2008 Lions….Congrats, anyone knows that. The problem for the Lions was that they couldnt stop anyone on D? There D gave up more 40+ yard plays than anyone in the NFL. They got scored on so often and so quickly it helped Calvin get on the field in even more passing situations. You know the Jets stats? You clearly didnt before i told you because there is no way you could believe either those players or that defense as a whole was that solid. This year’s production will not prove anything with the addition of Rex Ryan. Once again, he will take credit. If you get Darnell Dockett? Why do you need him? You have the almighty Kris Jenkins! If, if, if. But guess what? It’s not happening. The Jets will finish ahead of Buffalo in the division and that’s it. But thats besides the point. I do not care for the Jets so dont go on and on about the Jets because they werent even the topic of discussion. Don’t switch topics because you failed at the others. What double coverages does Calvin see that the other top wideouts dont see? You know, those receivers who put up better numbers than Calvin. So what’s a word better than unstoppable megatron? Just so we are clear this was a message to RAP the guy who gets heated after being incorrect in a madden argument. The J-E-T-S jets, jets, jets are comin! That’s classic. I cant imagine the tears streaming down your face as you lose a madden argument. Crushing! Your tough over the internet. Wow thats amazing. Don’t respond to this comment in any way, as i know you will be on the verge of tears, mouthing off irrelevant statements.
June 9th, 2009 at 7:31 am
maurice jones drew?? get real i would say he is better then thomas jacobs gore and portis!
June 9th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
WTF. HOW IS MARSHAWN LYNCH NOT TOP 10 RBS!?!?
June 10th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
how come tom brady is ranked so high after missing an entire season but shawn merriman isn’t ranked high after missing an entire season?
EA just doesn’t get it. EA spends more money on advertising than designing a great game. i think this is a make or break year for Madden. if EA screws up again people will revolt.
June 10th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
tomlinson shouldn’t be ranked so high either. tomlinson is over 30 years old now. he is washed up. he will split time with sproles.
June 11th, 2009 at 4:47 am
See the problem is people have short memeories. They let what people are saying around them and on tv dictate how they think. If L.T. comes back 100% healthy. He’s going to pick the league apart. Nothing peronal against A.P. but when L.T. is at his best he’s the best player in the league, but health is always an important factor for any player. In 7 years we’ll be saying the same thing about A.P.
June 11th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
I think I’d rather play Super Tecmo Bowl.
June 12th, 2009 at 12:43 am
I dont know why you guys consistently know ray lewis, but he sdeserves credit where its do. just because they didnt give the other guys their credit dont be a hater. and why do I see some sites ranking baltimore a 82? thats a little bit underrated wouldnt you say?
June 12th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Ronnie Brown, the Wildcat master made the Pro Bowl and dropped under 90? WTF??
June 13th, 2009 at 12:16 am
I just want to know one thing, if a player changes teams depending on the team, do their ratings drop cause of the team? Because shouldnt B-Dawkins be a top defender he was a big contributor on a team that was one play away from the superbowl.
June 13th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Are they on fucking crack!!!!!!!! Antoine Winfield of the Minnesota Vikings only getting a fucking 70 in Tackling?????? Do you even know who the fuck he is???? That dude DESTROYS people, by himself…….. all 5′9 185lbs of him! This is fucking ridiculous! Watch the Panthers game where he DESTROYS Jake Delhomme, or the game against the Saint’s where he DESTROYS Drew Brees and Deuce McAllister, or maybe even the game against the Cardinals where he makes Anquan Boldin fumble! He is a mini human highlight waiting to happen! No fucking respect!!!!!!!!
June 13th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Don’t Hate Appreciate. Respect!
June 14th, 2009 at 10:43 am
I wish people that knew about how to play the game and have played it made the list because alot of these rankings are off. Why is Romo even on the list hes not that good or as fast as hes rated, also how is Randy moss not a 99 the best wr in leauge and probobly of all time next to rice, you have Smith and Johnson ahead of him wtf? And why is Zach miller only a 86, did you see him play last year he should be low to mid 90’s and on the running backs how is Forte and Mcfadden not on the list? wacth what Mcfadden does this year when he actualy gets to start.
June 14th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Most these ratings are bunk. Madden goes by the contract amount and hype. I agree Antoine Wifields tackle raing is a perfect example. Hes not a household name, so he doesnt get the props he deserves. He absolutely destroys people! period. There is only maybe 1-2 other defensive CB’s or safeties that can even come close to hitting like that. And Randy moss after Smith and Fitzgerald? come on! Moss is the most explosive player the league has seen in decades! 2nd best WR ever. And Tony Romo and Palmer? What have they done lately? Brady has the rings to justify his ranking, but still shouldnt be that high cuz he only played in one game last year. ANd Frank gore 91=LOL. Brain Westbrook 94? Adrian Peterson is about right, maybe plus or minus 2!! Vikings baby!!
June 15th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Randy Moss the 2nd best reciever of all time? Are you serious? He’s only a deep ball threat. He doesn’t block, run great routes, and disappears in big games. Now I’m trying to figure out how Randy Moss is so great. Besides his rookie year and the 07 year, what has Randy did? Terrell Owens has done more than Randy. How dare you even put Randy in the same breathe as Jerry Rice. Just running deep routes doesn’t make you a great reciever. That’s the problem nowadays, people have lower the standard of greatness to make it fit what they want. Moss isn’t the perfect reciever therefore he doesn’t deserve the perfect rating. Jerry is the closes we’ll ever see to a near perfect reciever. Andre Johnson is more deserving of a 99 that Moss he does it all and doesn’t disappear in games, runs great routes, tough, strong, and has never has an average QB literally to throw too. Pump the brakes EA/Madden Michael Turner was just a back up last year.
June 15th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Fitzgerald became a 99 just from 3 playoff games, because if it was based on regular season solely Calvin and Andre Johnson would be 99s. The funny thing too is Albert Haynesworth wasn’t even the best DT last year. He just got more exposure. Chris Jenkins and Kevin Williams are better. Kevin Williams missed 4 games last year for that drug scandal and guess what. He and Albert Haynesworth was still tied last year with 8.5 sacks most for a DT. Shouldn’t he be a 99? What’s the rating system based on?
June 15th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Truly speaking we’ll never know truly what the rating system and how they pick and choose to give players. Unless we are there 1st hand then all we can do is type till the cows come home, but it will not change nothing. EA has the license; no competition and that’s that. They do what they want.
June 15th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
I agree with you Ray Frank Gore a 91? Ha! He wasn’t even in the top 6 rushers in the NFC. That was AP, Portis, Forte, Jackson, Jacobs, Grant, and Williams. Frank Gore tied with Marshawn Lynch for 1,036 yards, Which is 13th in the league. All the runningback above had more and made a bigger impact on their team.
June 15th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
manning = 99 cmon guys. All time leader in 4,000 yard seasons, tied for most mvps, no consistent running game since edge left. practically a rookie offensive line last year. An injured aging receiving core the past 3 years. If he isnt the definition of a 99 overall qb u must all be on crack. And peterson is perfect where he is. As is gonzalez, and the safeties on defense. where is bob sanders? anybody remember him, defensive player of the year 2 years ago. Neways, u people clearly need to get nfl network. 1 out of 5 of these posts has made legitiment points.
June 15th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Yeah Manning is a 99. He’s never even had a complete defense to even back him up. The year they won it all. The colts had the worst running defense in the league.
June 16th, 2009 at 12:46 am
James harrison should be a top rated defensive player on defense! Big Ben Just Wins Games That Should Be Enough 2 Be certified as a top 3 qb! Ray Is In There Because of His Name And the Best 2 Players in The game are safeties Reed and polamalu!
June 16th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
u guys are pathetic. get a life. O no the players tackle is only a 70?!> WHO CARES ITS JUST A GAME. hahahahhah o and btw ray lewis is a tank. and ravens gonna win it all so suck on them balls of truth
June 18th, 2009 at 10:48 am
T.O. should be the 4th best rated wide reciever how quickly everyone forgets that T.O. still hade 10 TD’s and over 1000 yards receiving. The only reason he did not have more is because Brad a.k.a. cant throw worth a damn quaterbacke the Cowboys for 4 games this year. At bare minimun if Romo would of player T.O. would of had 2 more touch downs and at least 200 more yards receving, and thats really playing it low. If T.O. had Romo for those games he would of led in NFL in TD’s and would of been in the top 3 as far as receiving yard. TO is totally rated too low, come on easports TO is way better than a 91. At minimun TO is a 95. No way there are 9 receivers in the league better that TO…….
June 18th, 2009 at 11:05 am
You know your right Andre not that Romo is a superstar but he would of boosted TO’s numbers making him the for sure leader in TD’s and top 3 in receving yards…GO cardinals
June 18th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
you guys who say tom brady is overrated are really stupid… idk if 50+ touchdown throws means anything to you but it means he’s pretty good to me…. and oh no he got injured…. big whoop that doesnt mean his rating should be lowered… also AP should be a 99 :) go MN!!
June 19th, 2009 at 12:08 pm
there is no way that wayne and white are better then calvin johnson. he should be a 96 at least.
June 20th, 2009 at 12:17 am
What is Tim Worley rated? ;)
June 20th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Some of you people write way too much. Just let it go (this isn’t an essay for school)
As for the rankings: Romo and Palmer are overrated
Pennington & Eli Manning are underrated
Where is Joey Porter?
LT is pitiful. He’s such a softy. Sproles is becoming the better back in SD
June 21st, 2009 at 9:28 pm
i don;t get how LT rating drop to 94.Micheal turner
and Adrian Peterson rating should not be better than LT.Not saying they are weak but there rating shouldn’t be better than LT.
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:12 pm
DUSTIN KELLER not rated in top 3? NOT even in top 9? This is ridiculous! Carlson higher than him makes no sense at all. Please look at the stats and production and DK didn’t even start getting catches until week 5 or 6 last season and was still among the top tight ends. He is the Jets best receiving threat and you don’t even have him rated in top 9? I’m afraid to know his rating.
There is no way he shouldn’t be #4 on that list.
DUSTIN KELLER = way bettter than #10… he should be at least #4 but this MUST BE CHANGED… New York fans are going to feel so cheated if it does not.
Please respond.
June 22nd, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Keller = 27th overall TE rank in the game.
77 overall rating with 86 speed and 90 acceleration
June 23rd, 2009 at 6:39 am
once again dolphins get no respect.. wheres joey porter.. wheres ronnie brown? where the most accurate passer in history of nfl? chad pennington?
wheres anthony fasano!? the t.e who had 7 touchdowns last season?!
yea no respect..
June 23rd, 2009 at 7:50 pm
justin u need to shut up the dolphins r weak dude
June 25th, 2009 at 9:41 am
I dont mind most of the ratings and if they dont produce as the season goes on EA will come up with roster updates online idk what everyone is complaining about.
Justin I agree w/ u w/ the dolphins being good since im a fins fan but i dont think we rly have anyone in the top 10 at any position. ronnie and porter are up there but idk about the top 10.
n maddenhead if u payed attention to football you’d know the dolphins won one of the most competitive divisions in football last year and are only getting better
June 26th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
josh they still got blowed out out by the ravens they just got lucky. they will never get to be 11-5. honestly they would be 6-10.knowing wat their shedulde is. so josh u need to pay attention.josh just look at theier 2009-2010 shedulde u would know wat i am talking about, idiot.
June 28th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
how the fuck is eli manning not in the top 10?
July 1st, 2009 at 7:16 pm
da next person to make a comment they r an stupid bitch
July 1st, 2009 at 7:19 pm
wow Carson palmer is in the top 10. he barley played last season.as i said again wow. please respond
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:27 pm
DeMarcus Ware should be a 99,because he had 20 sacks last season. That’s alot of sacks. The ratings can be unfair at times
July 4th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
i think theese are a little off. 1st even tho brady is a beast he doesnt deserve 98. secondly philip rivers should be higher and eli needs to be on that list and carson palmer is overrated. for runningbacks they did decent but were is leron mcclain or willie parker they deserve a high 80s or low 90s rating. with tightends i dont complian. with wide recievers calvin johnson and brandon marshall deserve a better rating but were is greg jennings and wes welker? defense is ok but ray lewis is like a 93 or 94. were is james harrison tho? stupid
July 4th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
sigh. Calvin Johnson was very underrated… Ray Lewis and Thomas Jones overrrated…
but i cant frickin wait for this game anyway! :)
July 4th, 2009 at 11:39 pm
u guys are sooo gay its a video game get a life ppl y do u ppl take the time to write all this stuff my god….u guys are all proly 40 and live with ur moms
July 4th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
by the way if carson palmer was healthy he’d be the 3rd best QB in the league and u’ll see y i say that this season…later madden junkies
July 4th, 2009 at 11:48 pm
where the heck is matt forte he should not be ranked that low
July 6th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Ray Lewis deserves all the recognishion he gets he is 1 of the best linebackers in nfl history
July 7th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I know what all u guys are going to say but Warner should be rated higher even though his system is geared toward the pass. Warner make his team better by throwing it across the field with speed and accuracy. When he is on, he is on. Last year he was on and he is only 1 POINT better then Rothlisberger? Thats not Right. Warner should at least be rated 96!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
qbs should be
peyton manning 98
Drew brees 97
Tom brady 97
kurt warner 95
ben rothlesburger 93
philip rivers 93
donavan mcnabb 92
Jay cutler 90
eli manning 90
please tell me if i 4got someone
July 7th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
rbs should be
adrian peterson 98
LT 96
Micheal turner 95
brian westbrook 94
deangelo williams 94
clinton portis 93
thomas jones 92
brandon jacobs 92
steven jackson 91
matt forte 90
frank gore 90
July 8th, 2009 at 12:38 am
tyler
what about the playoffs? Do you think Peyton Should have a lower rating for Maddden playof games since he typically sux in the playoffs?
July 8th, 2009 at 7:57 am
Yeah Madden should have some kind of “Clutch” stat with Peyton Manning having a 50 while Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger have 90’s.
July 8th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Ok one the ratings are fine just a little bit off and its not like u cant just go and fix them when u get the game and fuck you all u tom brady haters just cus he was injured doesn’t mean u go and fuck up his stats assholes and besides peyton manning didn’t even play like himself last year and they had to depend on their defense a little bit more, Madden is way better than 2K5 so hop off the dick and if u think madden sucks y dont u go to fucking college and after get a fucking job fucking graduate and than try to get up to the point of being able to help madden gamedesigners fix madden and btw MADDEN 2010 IS GONNA FUCKING OWN ;) btw FUCK THE GIANTS
July 9th, 2009 at 8:42 am
Full player ratings per team
http://www.maddenfans.com/forums/madden-general-discussion/3268-madden-nfl-2010-player-team-ratings.html
July 9th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
i will be ranked no.1 when madden 10 comes out guarentee it!!!
July 10th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
dutch
yes i think peyton should have a lower rating for that. i dropped him a point thinking of that and you could argue to take more points off cause of that but honestly peyton manning is the sureist bet week in and week out. every week he is great. and in playoffs its not like he is a tony romo. he actually plays pretty well but his team falls just short. but he is a great player their for he is a 98 in my book
July 11th, 2009 at 12:53 am
OK OK OK I See You Guys REALLY REALLY NEED MY HELP. Brady is in the correct spot. He got hurt and didnt play last year which is very true. But will that injury effect his decision making?? I doubt it. Will a leg injury effect his arm?? Nah not at all. So He cant scramble as well… Guess wut he never did.. And here is the kicker I HATE BRADY!!! But he is still the #1 or 2 Qb in the league. The rest of the qb’s are in the right spot. RB’s are almost right Peterson and Turner are 1 and 2 based on sheer physical domination.. lt and westbrook are their because of a couple key factors most over look.. The ability to catch the ball and pass blocking.. They are the best at those 2 things Portis and Gore are pure work horses. Jones should not be a top ten. Forte should be there. Chris Johnson was in a 2 headed back field.. as was williams.. both should not be rated in the top 10 (i know johnson isnt)TE’s are correct from top to bottom.. Gonzalez is #1 because he is a better blocker than every TE on the list … Yes fellas .. TE have to block too.. Not Just Catch. The Wr’s are ok too.. Fitz is the best right now.. A Johnson is a close 2nd.. 1500 yrds wit a weak qb a no tv time wow.. steve smith is a do it all wr… and he doesnt have a good 2nd wr or reliable TE to help him.. Its either run the ball or throw it to smith.. other teams know this.. yet he beats them weak in and weak out.. Moss is not the old Moss. THe speed is going down a bit.. and we know he is not going over the middle.. Now Wes welker shoud be a mid 90.. He catches over 110 passes every year.. 2008 Moss 69 catches Welker 111.. And he did that wit a back up qb.. Wayne is a new rice.. great route runner.. yeah he has manning but even if manning throws the ball to him 300 times.. he still has to make the catches. Other players who should be at least a 90 Bryant (Tampa) Housh (Bengals/Seahawks) with out him they might have lost every game too.. Jennings (Packers)Last is the Defense.. Haynesworth has done this for a minute now.. He is the best at his position. Faces more double teams than ne in the league. Lewis is overrated.. Reed anchors that def now.. Urlacher has lost a step but he is still a 95.. which is all he and briggs deserve.. Oh yeah and Harrison is a 97 which is right there with the best in the league.. Ware and Willis..Was suprised not to see more corner backs.. sameul from philly shut men down every week.. as did Bailey as usual.. also Tuck should be at least a 96-97….OK AND BTW …..YES I AM A LADY!!!!! AND THE LADY IS ALWAY RIGHT lol Have fun guys!!
July 11th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
lol
July 12th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Wow… lets see…andre johnson..um…best receiver in the league or at least tied with larry…Big ben…not a top 5 QB…Albert Haynesworth a 99???…and yeah…where is Mr. “Harrison and Adrian Wilson…
July 13th, 2009 at 8:25 am
stop bitchin bout ray lewis, compared his 08 stats to urlacher, pat willis, whoever else you can think of at inside or middle linebacker, you’ll see he’s right where he should be. its clear you’re just not paying attention. but james harrison is grossly underrated.
July 13th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Hardcore Steelers fan here and Ray Lewis is twice what James Harrison is. James has one good year, let him prove himself. Ray is what anchors that defense. No one in the league demands more and is a better leader than Ray Ray. I was stoked to see he was leaving. Till he resigned. Brady is rated fine, so is Peyton. Philip underrated. Running back ratings are good. Calvin underrated.
July 14th, 2009 at 12:35 am
Larry Fitzgerald is now the most overrated wide receiver. Period. He broke records in the playoffs, but that’s about it. Based on regular season, he should be around a 95-96. He’s a great receiver, but too much hype people think he’s going to jump ball every game. Keep in mind that teams have an whole offseason to prepare for Fitzgerald, and if you’re superstitious, Fitzgerald is a bad pick next year for two reasons. Superbowl losers curse, which the team does terrible, and the Madden Curse. There’s no way around the Madden Curse. Vick lost everything. Farve is now an outcast and an overheard topic. Culpepper lost his MVP stature. Lewis was indicted for murder and was basically lost for the next season by injury. Vince Young can’t even crack the starting lineup. It’s Polamalu and Fitzgerald next. Polamalu is going to get injrued the way he plays, and perhaps Fitz will get his knee busted like Marvin Harrison did.You never know..
July 15th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
As a falcons fan, I’m excited to finally have a pretty solid offense. After Matt Ryan’s Rookie of the year, and the addition of the #1 ranked tight end.. They will now have the #2 ranked running back and the #6 ranked receiver in Roddy White. Throw in a home run-hitter in Jerious Norwood and a fb bruiser ovhie maghelli, and you have a pretty good balanced attack. Watch out for the falcons y’all.
July 15th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
hey, josh, did u just say that no other running back had ever gotten 5 td’s in a game? rofl….gale sayers had 6 i believe myb 7 not sure, ur just a fucking dolphin fan thats pissed that ur team sucks and always will suck
July 16th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
brian westbrook only 94?!
July 19th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Why is that brady can be gone a whole season, and still be rated so high. And why is it that Carson Palmer who did play about 5 games and was top 5 QB in madden 09, His rating falls to an 87. EA really irritates me and the way they rate players. And why is that Steven jackson had one good season and all others he has been mediocre. But yet he is still rated a 91 when the Rams did horrible and continue to
July 20th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Just because you were injured doesn’t mean you should go to a 70. They did alright with brady. Randy Moss hsould be hella better he caught like 11 TD’s with Matt Cassel who was like a freakin rookie and wes welker should be on the list.
July 20th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
well guys i agree with the rating system being bogus but really there is no need to complain because we have the prevelige to go into the attribute system and tweak it up. Bottem line everyone has a different opinion on the caliber of a player thats what makes this all so fun to talk about. but my friends i would like to be the first to say even though we all have our disputes on the topic of attribute flaws this game is going to fucking ROOCKK!! so brace yourselves and enjoy the best fucking game in the universe yours truly
July 20th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
Can anybody please tell me what reggie bush’s overall will be and his speed rating.. thank you, much appreciated
July 20th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
overall: 79
speed: 97
July 21st, 2009 at 9:22 am
Romo ranked in the 80s? what a joke…
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Ok I’ve found myself reading these comments and i haven’t found one yet that anyone has mentioned WHY KURT WARNER IS RATED 94 he was only good last year because he has anquan boldin and larry fitzgerald at WR if it wasn’t for those two guys making ridiculously acrobatic catches (which by the way caused anquan to have his face surgically repaired last year) that they were in the Super Bowl not because of Kurts so called Leadership and skill set forget it… once an arena football QB always an arena football QB. Hes garbage and so are all these stupid ratings. they change them in the game two weeks into the season anyways so why bother having those guys ranked so if your just going to downgrade them, with the exception of Adrian Peterson and Larry Fitzgerald those rankings are a joke. and i leave you on this note…..It’s just a game, so dont take everything so personal. i love this game but people take it waay too seriously. you should just enjoy it. you pay 60 bucks and you get a whole year out of it whats to hate about it. have a good one yall. – Big Daddy aka: Doc Diezel!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:12 am
I AGREE WITH THE VERY 1ST COMMENT… IT OBVIOUS TO SEE THAT HYPE IS BETTER THAN TRUE TALLENT…(SMH) OK CHAD PENNINGTON WAS TIED FOR 2ND PLACE IN MVP VOTES HAD THE FEWEST AMOUNT OF INTERCEPTIONS, LEAD A 1-15 TEAM TO A 11-5 PLAYOFF VISIT TEAM, WITH ONLY 1 MONTH BEFORE PREASON NOT TO EVEN MENTION HIS BELOW AVERAGE RECEIVERS… BE REAL EA SPORTS..SUMS FISHY, I THANK EVERYONE WONTS TO BE A DALLAS COWGIRL FAN… CUZ AS A QB AND THAT IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT TONY ROMO’s NUMBER CANT COMPARE…PLUS TONY HOMO HAD ALL PRO PLAYERS LIKE T.O, ROY WILLIAMS, AND WITTEN…NAME 1 GREAT DOLPHINS RECEIVER…THERE ISNT ONE JUS ORDINARY TALENT…CP#10 SHOULD BE AT LEAST A 90 OVERALL…NOT MUCH THROW POWER BUT ACCURACY, AND AWARENESS“““““““““`
July 24th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Why is it that Tony Gonzalez is always ranked so high?
July 24th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Brady dominated even before the year before last with Branch as his best wr. Brady I believe broke the touchdown record the year before with 50. What did cassel throw? Not even close to that. And Witten should be the number one te he is clearly the best in the nfl. And all you Romo haters look at his stats. He had more touchdowns and less interceptions than Cutler. Not to mention Romo played three less games than him. And they rate them the same. Not to mention you guys hate on Brady cause he was hurt. Then why in the world is carson Palmer still in top ten. He has not done jack since his knee injury. No way both him and Cutler should be the same as romo. And you guys bring up that he had great players around him. All he really had was witten. Mr king of drop passes T.O. could not get open to save his life. Roy williams came to dallas hurt and didnt know the offense. BArber was hurt too. Romo is top 5 qb and why is kurt warner rated so high. WTF he had two of the top 8 NFL recievers on his team. this is the same warner that got replaced by mark bulger and eli manning. Give an average qb those receivers and see were they end up. Probably in top ten. Half of those catches by fitz were all fitz. They were terrible throws and fitz went up there and got it. But to all you Romo haters he is better than Drew Bree who was nothing in SD. DOnt forget tony romo also shine in sean paytons offense. So its really the scheme not the player. You guys will all agree with me at the end of this season when Romo Proves he is top five Qb. Go COWBOYS
July 24th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Oh and I saw the new cowboys stadium oooooooooohhhhhhhh man its going to look so nice on the game

July 25th, 2009 at 10:55 am
Hmmm… Thomas Jones over Jones-Drew? right, ok. If EA believes that then I have some oceanfront property for sale in Iowa
July 26th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
b.s L T had a shit season and cliton is not above him bull shit brian westbrook was injured use rating by stats jackson with the dumb asses that made the game im socked he is not 76 overall tuner had one good season like c.p how come potis is not that high he has the same rating as last year but every one knows that was his best season
July 27th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
I thought Andre Johnson should be #1 and that Brandon Marshall should be ranked higher.
July 28th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
wheres matt ryan?
July 28th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
where is the love for champ bailey. the guy never gets thrown by and when he does it is very rare someone catches it.
July 29th, 2009 at 12:27 am
EA and their rating have been full of S**T for the past couple of madden games Reggie bush has 2 twenty yard rules and keeps his 97 in speed and Willie parker speed drops, R moss had great year with a high school QB and Steve Smith rated higher
July 29th, 2009 at 3:04 am

July 30th, 2009 at 2:39 am
Joey Porter was tied 2nd in sacks. He should be ranked hight than this. Come on!!!!
July 30th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
dude maybe it is just cuz i am a redskins fan but The defense is a little jacked up. We were one of the top defenses and we don’t have anyone on the top 10. We have london fletcher, who is better than urlacher and ray lewis, he is argueably the best MLB in the league. Plus we have landry who by no means compares to troy polamalu or ed reed but he is damn close. And if you are going to include high contracts that played like sh*t last year then deangelo hall falls in that category so where is he at. everyone knows he has the talent but he didn’t show it last year. And for a different team where is chad johnson or TJ….yes they are garbage most of the time but they have carson palmer on there and they are the only reason why he even has a name. And last but not least I am disappointed….. where the h*ll is Michael Vick on that list hahaha
July 30th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Ow and haynesworth doesn’t count for the redskins we just picked him up. And it seems like good players catch some sort of disease when they get to the redskins so we will see how high ranked he is next year
August 2nd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
ray lewis is the best inside backer ever. stop saying hes overated. 120 tkls 3 sacks 3 pics last season. kill it. umm lets be honest whenever u watch t.o. play u know hes the best player on the field. hes still the best in the game. nnamdi is good but a 99? kill it. charles woodson is the best corner in the league. he covers and tkls. closing in on 40 pics. ronde barber is sick. i can go on and on. donovan mcnabb is a better football player than big ben and kurt warner. hes only behind manning and brady. neck and neck with brees………….mike vick for life! in 2005 everybody knew he was changing the game. gon
August 3rd, 2009 at 12:23 am
I will have to agree with you on Ray Lewis, there is no doubt he will be put into the hall of fame but age is definetly setting in for him and I can imagine that baltimore is going to be smart and show the backup a little more playing time in the next year or two to prepare for the following years so ray lewis may not have much time left, that is probably the reason he is not rated so high. But london fletcher is consistent every year for the past 8 years even when in St. Louis he was always in the top middle linebackers. he may not have always had the most tackles in the year but there has not been a year where he has been below top ten in his career as a starter. He is consistent and that is what makes him so great, you know he is going to go out and perform day in and day out. And for T.O. he is amazing but the thing that drags him down is his mouth, no team can put up with him, now he is in Buffalo and the only reason why he is there is because they are trying to go all out this year and make it to the super bowl, they are not trying to develop young players this year they are just playing to win. Payton Manning is awesome too but if a team could actually put some pressure on the guy then he probably wouldnt be as good. I think his O-Line should recieve as much credit as he does, he as a powerful arm and awesome accuracy but if he actually was pushed out of the pocket every once and awile then he probably wouldnt be as great. His O-Line buys him a ton of time to throw the ball and if someone does sneak through he takes the sack and comes right back on the next play and throws a bomb cuz he know it isn’t going to happen twice in a row.
August 5th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
i jus wana knw where in marion “the barbarian” barber?? he should at least round out that top 10..
August 6th, 2009 at 4:03 am
I hate the patriots so you guys can’t claim I’m biest. But I believe that despite everything he’s done Brady is very undderrated by fans. Do you guys not watch football. He is gunna retire top 3 QBs of all time. Much higher then manning. ThIs guy spent a majority of his career with absoltely no weapons. What was it, troy brown? Deon branch? Brown is a Bette CB the WR. Ha. The one year they give him something(Randy moss). He breaks the TD record. And carriers his team to a 16-0 record. Give the man some respect. He should be rated a 99.
manning has had Harrison his whole career. Also add eddrin James, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. All are all stars. Wow. You guys Need to get your facts staright.
And frank gore is undderrated if anything. Put AP behind the niners herendous oline and he would but up nothing close to what he does now. Don’t get me wrong though. AP is unbelieveable and should be rated a 99 also.
Peace.
August 7th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
wtf is goin on wit these randy moss only 96 rated he is possibly the best wr in the nfl and why as brady dropped to 98 he is equal 2 peyton on ability nd tomlinson shud be atleast 98 rated
August 8th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
PHILLIP RIVER SHOULD BE RATED HIGHER!! LIKE AT LEAST A 95
August 9th, 2009 at 8:05 am
The problem is the 2 guys that do the rating do not know anything about football unless they talk to people or look on the internet. It would help if they brought in a couple off players (retired or unretired)to come in and TEACH THESE SO CALLED GAMERS how to make the Madden as real as possible! The only time they do bring in pro’s is to wear the black tights! Who cares if they progress during the season? You can buy three different football draft magazines, and have three different 40 times! PLEASE TALK TO THR RIGHT PEOPLE AND MAKE THE GAME CORRECTLY PLEASE!
August 9th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
I think randy moss should be the best wide out if tom brady wasnt injured who knows how great he would have been plus wes welker should be in the top ten he has been huge for the pats, matt ryan needs to be an 90 he turned the falcons from suck to great
August 9th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
will mike vick be in this game? and also do they have dog drowning as a stat?
August 9th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
how is john beason and james harrison not in the top 10 defenders but ofcourse ray lewis is
August 10th, 2009 at 2:15 am
just be thankful that they even make a damn madden game. all you people ever do is bitch about it. If you dont like it dont play it. It’s that simple.
August 10th, 2009 at 9:51 am
Most of yall need to watch some football. AP is better than LT now. AP got the most rushing yards in a game against a great defense. McNabb should be a lil higher he aint got any great targets besides westbrook if u gave him some of the reciever manning, brees, brady, have his stats would be far better look what happen when he had TO. Westbrook should be higher than turner. He is all around.
August 10th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Andre Johnson is the best receiver in the game. To put up the kind of numbers he does with Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels is to me more impressive than Larry Fitzgerald putting up his numbers with that offense and another top 10 receiver the other team has to worry about on the other side who just happens to be the best run after catch guy in the league. Also Brandon Marshall is underated if you ever watch him play he is an absolute beast.
August 10th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
rap ur a moron edgrin james had more yards then ap in the first 2 seasons
August 10th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
its funny hearing everyone talk about this, its only ratings they will be changed after the first 4 games. Probly only half of u actually watch football or know what the players do on the field that makes them the rating that they are even tho some are overated.
August 10th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Wow Flacco and Ryan got the shaft…would agree Ray Lewis is overrated but, i’m guessing the rest of the Ravens team is underrated(Mason,Running backs/fullbacks)so it should even out
August 11th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
they change but i dont have xbox live so how does that help?
August 12th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
“And eli manning, clinton portis, thomas jones, tony gonzalez, kellen winslow, calvin johnson, and ray lewis have either dropped off the map or havent done shit.”
Calvin Johnson hasnt done shit? are you actually a retard or do you just not follow sports? CJ was tied for first in TD catches, 5th most rec yards, 2nd in receptions over 20 yrds. Oh yea and he did this with 3 different QBs on an 0-16 team.. His rating should be at least 96, a 92 is pathetic.
August 13th, 2009 at 1:38 am
no love for marques colston? jonathan vilma?
August 13th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Come on people. James Harrison is the defensive player of the year and he isn’t on this list. Adrian Wilson during the playoffs was a monster on the field; give him some love as well.
August 15th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Y is LaDainian Tomlinson’s ratings so low?
August 16th, 2009 at 1:13 am
What about Aaron Rogers. I could see him cracking the top 10 over Romo.
August 16th, 2009 at 2:25 am
mcnabb is the most overrated dude on all these lists. he should be an 85 tops.
August 16th, 2009 at 11:35 am
terrible ratings
nobody should be 99
and wheres james harrison best linebacker in the leaqgue by for
August 17th, 2009 at 10:50 am
i agree. harrison won defensive player of the year and he isnt up there? also FWP was snubbed out of his speed. he is still as fast as any RB in the league but he only has 95 speed rating? thats gay. i understand them lowering his overall but his speed? thats just not right
August 17th, 2009 at 11:01 am
People to me this years edition of Madden is ridiculous!!! How can people say this is their best edition to date? The college game has way more features and commentary is a whole lot better. These ratings are terrible!!! They give backup players ratings someone coming out of high school should have. I understand they want you to see the difference in player abilities, but EA could have done a better job of wanting you to see that. I mean right now, I’m 16W-7L but I won’t be probably playing it too much longer. I’m going back to the college game. Get it together EA!!!
August 17th, 2009 at 11:03 am
Chuck!McNabb has no weapons. What happen when he got T.O. 104 quaterback rating wit a 64 completion percent. Give him a great Wide out and watch him do some damage. Do you homework before u write some stupid.
August 18th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
U guys gotta be fukkin crazy to say ray lewis is over rated he has been top 3 mlb in the last 10 years he is a all around game changer
August 19th, 2009 at 5:08 am
Vick's ratings are out. He is a 73!
August 19th, 2009 at 7:47 am
Where is James Harrison..The definsive MVP??? he should at least rank a 97
August 19th, 2009 at 7:49 am
Are you CRAZY??? Jerry Rice might not have been that fast BUT he sure as hell was physical
August 19th, 2009 at 7:49 am
And you're right
August 19th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I havent heard his name that much any way..and you're right its not him anymore..its been a team effort for a few years now
August 19th, 2009 at 7:54 am
Hey..you can NEVER leave out Tom Brady..he's still one of the top 3 QB's in the league. And if Brees gets a Super Bowl he should be #1
August 20th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
You Ray Lewis hater shut up! He deserves that ranking. Not sure if Polumalu is a 99.
He's a 97 at best but oh well.
I hope Joe Flacco's Arm Power is at a 99 though!
August 21st, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Yeah noodle arm. Show of hands, who thinks Rivers is better than Manning? From fantasy drafts alone, Rivers is never drafted ahead of Manning. Get a clue buddy. In total agreement about Ray Lewis as well. And Steve Smith should not be rated ahead of Randy Moss. I wonder how they came up with some of these ratings because they are not logical.
August 21st, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Calvin Johnson was one of the top 5 fantasy scoring wideouts last year. He's got more raw talent than all but 3 wideouts. Tony is one the best, if not most talented TEs. Nice explaination.
August 21st, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Except that Brady had 5 good years before he was hurt, including breaking the single season touchdown record. I don't like him as a player, but he does deserve that high of a rating. I hate to defend Brady, but your commentary was senseless.
August 23rd, 2009 at 2:30 pm
ray lewis is great he is the leader of one of the best defences in the leage if anything he needs to be higher. and your telling me that calvin johnsen andre johnsen brandon marshell are better then terrell owens he scored 14 tds in 08 and in some games i counted 4 guys in man 2 man on him so id but him ad least 96 and guys weresjoe flacco hes one of the best young qbs in the leage he at least deserves 91
August 23rd, 2009 at 2:59 pm
fuck you ray lewis is the best linebacker…EVER
August 23rd, 2009 at 5:21 pm
So how is Aaron Rodgers not in the 90's? Wow, Peyton Manning is the only QB with better stats and Rodgers was 2nd in fantasy points. hmmmmmm. I guess I'll buy it when the game gets it right.
August 24th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Brady is the man quit hating
August 28th, 2009 at 1:21 am
romo has top notch accuracy look at his comp rating and qb rating….much better qb than roethlisbugger.
August 29th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
I agree that cassel did a great job last year but who was he throwing too???? when brady took them to the super bowl who was he throwing too when he one it? the talent around cassel would have made a six year old throwing the football look great. the talent it took to throw to guys that noone even remembers now that takes some serious skill thats why he's ranked so high.
August 29th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
It didnt seem like they were so much of a power house last year when there defense was significantly improved. Manning was acctually the cause of the colts problems last year he never deserved the mvp award he did nothing to earn it there were so many more deserving canidates than him. they do have a running game also its called joesph addai who if i remember correctly one the super bowl for them against the bears when manning couldnt do anything. the reason both mannings are rated so high is that they have there fathers last name so people give them the benefit of the doubt.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Manning is a little overrated (should be a 95 or 96) and Calvin Johnson is disgustingly underrated (should be at LEAST a 94, more like a 96 IMO). If you disagree, then you probably don't know shit about football.
September 13th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
Brady should b higher than manning because Harrison and Wayne made him better as Brady had only Troy Brown and Deion Branch
September 13th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
exactly the reason why Brady is so high every year is because his WR core is so weak it wasn't until Welker and Moss came to the team that he showed how good he really was in fact he makes the WR that much better u look at Troy Brown,David Givens,Deion Branch etc. how good they were and compare them to after they left New England while Manning had Harrison,Wayne even the emerging Gonzalez so if anything I'd flip the two!
September 14th, 2009 at 9:18 am
even if brady sat out 2 full seasons he would still be among the top 2 or even 3 best QBs in the league and the reason why eli isnt on the list is because he is abosolutely one of the worst QBs in the entire league, the only reason he won a super bowl was bc of his O and D line and a lucky catch by a shitty reciever who just got cut..and everyone on here is hating on tim brady just like everyone hates derek jeter…because they are one of the best at their position and you only wish they were on your team
September 14th, 2009 at 9:22 am
i completely agree..EXCEPT for eli, hes terrible, hes way overpaid and the only who seems the know it are the sports reporters on early sunday morning
September 14th, 2009 at 9:27 am
and yes even though ima huge fan, ray lewis is way over rated, hes getting old and slow, and ed reed is the reason the ravens D is so nasty bc teams know they cant throw the ball so they have to run up the gut, padding rays stats
October 6th, 2009 at 12:17 am
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldY2pInMyR4
Ray Lewis is a monster.
October 7th, 2009 at 3:01 am
why is eveybody madden crazy
October 18th, 2009 at 2:22 am
harrison also isn't neccisarily a one year wonder he had solid stats in 07
October 18th, 2009 at 2:49 am
just wanna talk about my team the eagles. Donovan mcnabb is so friecking good. all of our fans for some reason every year have this period whgere they think he sucks.westbrook might be a little better than a 94 and desean jackson is an 81 thats bull. hes such a great player with a great future jason peters is so good probably more like 97 than a 95. trent cole is also great he puts up great numbers in the first half off the year. sure he fades in the second half cuz hes so small butt he deserves better than a 91. don't get me started on stewie bradley. is it all of the sudden normal for all pros to be 77s
October 18th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
bull crap hes one of the best safetys in the nfl
October 19th, 2009 at 10:24 am
the one biased comment i'll make is i truly think madden hates the niners. they are my team and i don't think they're great or anything, im a realistic fan, they just seem to be skimped every year. also, they have crabtree rated better than all of the other receivers, come on.
ive seen a lot of people complain about Ray Lewis being overrated, no hes not. he is a step slower than he was a couple years ago but he is maybe the smartest defensive player in the game, and his leadership qualities also have a huge impact on his entire defense. he deserves to be where he is.
anyone that thinks peyton or brady are overrated must not read or watch enough football. if those two and brees were all 99's i think it would still be fair. those guys are fantastic.
Tony Romo needs to get the FUCK out of the top 10 he sucks! Eli should be in there. He's not a crowd favorite outside of NY, and he's not one of my favorites, but he's got game. he's looking more and more like his brother every year- reads well, doesn't get sacked much. Rodgers and Ryan are probably close calls too but I don't think thats a huge mistake just something to note.
For the receivers, I don't think T.O. belongs in there anymore. I try to make top 10's all the time, i'm a football addict to say the least, and for that reason I know how hard it is to cut it down to 10 sometimes. Jennings, Colston, Ochocinco, and Ward are all guys that are tough to leave out, but its hard to choose who to replace still.
Brandon Jacobs and Thomas Jones should be removed. LT is way overrated. He is permanently banged up and hasnt really done 94 shit since his record breaking year. Sproles seems as good as him most of the time i watch the chargers. LT is still a good fanatasy rb cuz the chargers have a great overall offense and he's really good on the goal line, but he has dropped off, prob to the bottom of the top 10 or maybe even out. the most notable backs missing are MAURICE JONES-DREW (huge mistake), ronnie brown, chris johnson, matt forte, and marion barber.
wow ive said too much, my final comments on defense are gonna be short: justin tuck, john abraham, james harrison, bob sanders
October 22nd, 2009 at 1:41 am
back then he wuz extremely good but now hes losing it
October 26th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
cnt belive ray lewis is dat low rankin have u seen wut bruh is doin diz year….yall madden makers r all cap!!!…..real talk tom brady diz year is not betta den drew brees or big ben…finally yall stop over ratin tony homo i mean romo…n finally brandon jacobs, frank gore, n thomas jones shuld deff be in front of sucky Mcsuckster steven jackson……..eagles r da shyt donovan will have another pro bowl year n hopefully well get 2 da superbowl….patroits can choke on it!!!
November 20th, 2009 at 6:21 am
Ray Lewis is the most underrated player in the history of the NFL history.
I have watched almost every player ever, and I come to know that he is just as good now as he was then. And he Makes Players around him Better, Just look at Bart Scott.
and I'm not sure what (FAN) would think other. He is just as good as the Jack Ham's and the Ray Nitchke's (blessed be there names) , and all the other hall of famers.
November 20th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Madden ratings are now proactive and not from the year before which is also why the schedules for each team is for the schedule coming up and not the past one.
November 26th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
Where is John Aberham and micheal turner has a good rating. He should be better then adrian peteron
December 21st, 2009 at 4:52 pm
I agree with u on Phillip Rivers but Drew Brees is the second qb in the NFL, but Tom Brady's ratings shouldn't realy be that high, and Peyton Manning's ratings should definely be that high he is the "Best QB In The NFL" i don't care what you say.
January 29th, 2010 at 2:49 pm
i believe that ray Lewis is one of the most aggressive linebackers out there. and you don't have to physical when you got Peyton manning to throw it to you
January 29th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
brady is the best quarterback out there overrated or not. peytyon is overated yes hes good but hes really not the best
