I know they haven’t exactly been the best team in the world lately, but the Pirates DO have five World Series titles in their franchise history. Why are they never included in any City of Champions stuff any more?
I get that they didn’t and won’t win the World Series this year, but that shirt is also celebrating four Steelers Super Bowls that happened three decades ago and two Penguins Stanley Cups that happened almost two years ago. History counts.
putting a Pirate logo might kill the overall value of the shirt :)
The Pirates do have great history but they really don’t belong on a 2009 City of Champions shirt celebration the Pens/Steelers Championships.
We have a Pirate post on deck for tomorrow, that should be interesting. I’m a fan of the current rebuilding process under the new management but I really can’t get too excited about the Buccos until they get Tabata, Alvarez, McCutchen, and others in the bigs for a full season. At that point in time…the Bucs will resemble the post-lockout Penguins hopefully. That’s when I’ll jump back aboard.
