EA NHL 2009 was widely regarded as one of the greatest sports games ever made. From what we are hearing from EA Sports, NHL 2010 is going to be even better than what we got last year. Bits and pieces of info from the game are being released in regards to gameplay, additions, new features, EASHL, new goalie animations, etc…but one of the few things that EA has NOT released yet is player ratings and player attributes. Fortunately, we were able to sneak a peek at a few screenshots taken from across the pond.
Check out some of the Pittsburgh Penguins and their EA Sports NHL 2010 player ratings.
We tossed in a few non-Penguins to give you something to compare them to.

I also read that the game freezes if you take control of Ovechkin and skate him into the defensive zone. The console shuts down or short-circuits or something. Are these rumors true?

if anyone ever watched a game of hockey, they would know ovechkin is not selfish, and if they had the time to look at the stats, he had 54 assists and was 10th in the league in assists. selfish? i think not. if you watch a game of his with a clear mind, you would see that even though he isnt the best passer in the league, he is better that almost all of the league.

I also read that Crosby whines to the officials after any team scores a hatrick on the Penguins.
Anyone else heard there is a special combo sequence that, when playing with the Pens, will add Crosby to a fight as a third player. He only has one move though which is cup checking the out manned player. The great thing is the Pens won’t get penalized.

I read on the developer blog that there’s an invisible barrier that keeps Ovechkin away from any battles along the boards, in the corners, or in front of the net as to maintain the realism of his game. And you are not actually able to fight using Ovechkin (also to maintain realism) since he always leaves it to the team enforcer to fight his battles for him and answer for the cheap runs he takes at players.
i also read that malkin falls asleep on ice and refuses to move or play for 6, 7, 8 games at a time. Its for maintaining the realism of him being "on fire" for a few games and disappear the next couple pressure games.
Though trash asides, I have noticed Crosby camping the net a lot in game quite realistic to his actual play.
I heard that EA developed an all new physics package for fighting using Ovie, instead of throwing punches he slaps, and sometime he keeps his gloves on
does Ovechkin perform his queer side-show dances after scoring in the game?
I like when poeple talk about crosby and how he doesnt fight or stick up for himself, but he has been in atleast 3 fights. The great 8 has never been in a fight, and hes cupless

By now we should all know about the Crosby vs. Savard story. Last season Crosby challenged Boston’s Marc Savard to a fight. Savard declined…..saying that he wouldn’t fight Crosby on the account of his “sissy visor”. So Crosby skated back to the bench and told the equipment guy to take off the visor, which he did. Crosby challenged Savard again on the next shift sans visor. Savard backed down. LOL.
The screens appear to be taken from a European version of the game. Probably at one of EA’s showcases over there. For those of us in NA we won’t have the metric system.
I think Ovi’s wrist shot power should be 95, everyone knows he has a howitzer for a wrister. I think giving Crosby a 92 def. awareness is a bit much (85 maybe), coming from a Penguins fan. Why shouldn’t Malkin be rated the same? Go Pens and I can’t F’ing wait for NHL 2010!!!!

These ratings are dumb. how can you rate Saku Koivu an 82 and Ryan Getzlaf a 88. Both players are underrated in this game. Hopefully this isn't the real ratings. . .
Does anyone else here hate how in your league you cant trade two players for one or a player for a gaolie. Also how the shot stick is the same as the hit stick so you take a million penalties for interference. Someone complain to the creators about this!
