The Steelers offensive numbers of the last few weeks were a mirage created by playing poor defenses. Our offensive playcalling/coaching is a joke.

    • We beat an undefeated team, rushed well against a great run-stopping defense and have the second best yards per play differential in the league.

The only mistakes I counted were these: if Heath Miller hadn't committed a penalty, Ben would have thrown for two TDs. If Rashard Mendenhall hadn't fumbled, maybe we'd have had another score. How do you fault Arians and not the players in those situations?

We've got a 4-2 record, Ben leads the league in yards and yards per attempt with a 104.5 QB rating, Mike Wallace is having a sensational rookie year and getting more involved in every gameplan, and the biggest deficit we've faced all season is 4 points.

Yet still, Steelers fans find time to piss and moan about Arians. Who, by the way, has more Super Bowl rings than any of us will ever have.

We beat a team that has the best RB in the league today and handed them their first loss. Instead of being a Debbie Downer, how about being happy for a minute?

Here's two things these numbers do not take into consideration – Favre's ability for the astounding and ST/defensive scores. HAHAHAHAAH!!! Go Steelers!

I was watching the game in a sports bar in Cleveland….needless to say the Clowns fans were yapping, but not for long!

    Robert,

The Giants have played Bucs, Raiders, Chiefs , and Skins
The Eagles have played Carolina, Chiefs, Raiders, and Bucs
The Colts have played Titans, Rams, Jaguars, Miami
The Vikings played Browns, Detroit, rams, 49ers,
The Packers have played, Browns, Lions, rams etc
The cowboys have played, Bucs, chiefs, carolina, etc

Playing bad teams isn't a steelers Novelty. Look around my man, the league has
some really bad teams this year.

    Steelers 5.3 YPP vikings 4.9
    Steelers 7.3 YPP Browns 3.7
    steelers 6.4 YPP Lions 4.9
    steelers 6.8 YPP Chargers 5.3
    steelers 6.2 YPP Bengals 4.7
    steelers 5.2 YPP Bears 4.8

Point taken, other teams have taken advantage of poor offenses. You list the Titans as a bad team but they held us to 10pts until overtime. We have the talent to be a good offense and should be able to put up 20pts a game, not 13.

I love most of our players on offense, but the playcalling is still bad. I just don't feel like we have much of a plan week to week. Ben just scrambles and tries to hit guys deep. You can't build a consistent offensive attack around that.

  • Robert

While I may criticize the direction of the offense I still think the Steelers are a very good team. Don't make a mistake about that. But when a team that has been struggling on defense holds us to 13pts after giving the ravens 31 something is up.

The Titans were exposed by Ben in the 4th Quarter. Up until that Point,
the Steelers were still trying to establish a rushing attack. But after the Steelers
passed the ball on them in the 4th QTR and OT, other teams followed suit.
If Steelers played them again, the game wouldn't be close.

Yes, it is tough only scoring 13 points. But, you just can't move the football down the field
to the 3 yard line and fumble the ball away. They also had a penalty cost them a Touchdown. That's 14 points. Plus, the Steelers offense weren't even on the field
in the 4th Quarter. Instead of getting the ball back, they watched not one but two returns
run back for TD's. Lets say Fox and Woodley were both tackled at the just short of the
Endzone. The offense comes on and punches it into the endzone. Now we
score 27 points instead of 13. Does that make it all better? And with both
Scores actually being run back for TD's, how could the offense get into much of a rythm.
They basically lost 1 Quarter of the game.

Finally. the Vikes defense haven't played as bad as you might think.

    Vikings vs Green Bay

The Vikings (4-0) sacked Favre’s replacement, Aaron Rodgers(notes), eight times. Jared Allen(notes) was credited with 4 1/2 of them, a career high, including a safety in the fourth quarter that stretched the lead to 16. Rodgers had his first two turnovers of the season, and Favre turned both of them into vintage touchdown passes in the first half.Favre had tons of time to throw throughout the game, and Rodgers had the exact opposite experience—often hanging onto the ball too long. He finished 26 for 37 for a career-high 384 yards, many of them in desperation down the stretch, and two touchdown passes.

    Vikings vs Rams

Against the Rams, they simply overwhelmed an overmatched opponent.
Minnesota led 14-0 by the midpoint of the first quarter, let up a bit, then methodically wore down St. Louis. Jared Allen(notes) returned one of his two fumble recoveries 52 yards for a touchdown.

    Vikings VS Ravens

"If we start fast and put points on the board, our defense starts fast, I think the game is a totally different outcome," says Ravens Running back Ray Rice. The Vikings held the
Ravens to only 3 points in the first half. The Ravens only
had a total of 10 points entering the 4th Quarter. But they lost Antoine Winfield and
his backup due to injury at the time and Flacco routinely picked on the rookie
    who replaced both of them.
